Every CIA dialup user is allocated 5 megabytes of space for a web site. It is a simple process to set up your pages for the world to see!

The process used on the internet to transfer files from place to place is called FTP, File Transfer Protocol. There are a number of different programs to accopmplish this. Here are a few FTP programs to get you started:

Macintosh	Fetch 3.03
Windows 95/NT	CuteFTP (version 2.6)

Method of FTPing to TheCIA.net's web server:

• 1. Make sure your main page is titled index.html.
• 2. Point your FTP program at ftp1.thecia.net. Login with your username and password.
• 3. Our server will automatically take you to the proper place for your files to reside. Drop the web pages and any related files (such as pictures and icons) here. This directory is /pub/ftp/pub/users/yourusername.
• 4. You should be all set now! Close your FTP program, and check your web browser to make sure you didn't forget anything.

Your HTTP address will be:

http://www.thecia.net/users/yourusername

http://www.yourdomain.com

Someone looking at that main HTTP address will be served the file named index.html. You can name the other pages in your site anything you like, just be sure to have the .html extension present.
